--------------------------------------- Strifeshadow Version 1.03 Release Notes --------------------------------------- The following controls have been very helpful to people in solving a variety of compatibility and performance issues: F2 - Toggles the ability to view objects hiding behind buildings F3 - Toggles Shadows F4 - Toggles hitpoint bars for all units (always on for selected units) F5 - Toggles mouse mode (solve "mouse lag" issue) F6 - Toggles windowed mode F7 - Toggles between DirectDraw and Direct3D graphics mode Version 1.03 of Strifeshadow corrects the following bugs: - All sacks can be picked up without crashing now (failed pickup attemps led to a crash before) - Games with a '?' in the name now correctly save replays - If a raider doesn't have space to dismount, he will now remain in raider form - Carvers can now be diverted when travelling to mount a moag - Melee units no longer face south after moving - Game no longer crashes when GameSpy connection is lost prior to cancelling a game - Improved the ability of unicorns to teleport en masse - Unicorn mana is properly refunded if teleport exit is blocked - Flying resource gatherers will now return resources without assistance (Dio's mod) - "Use Special Weapon (Self)" command now correctly charges resources (Corseth DragonFyre) - Crash with zero duration build commands (AlexanderYoshi) - Crash when no level animations are available on a user-created race (AlexanderYoshi) Version 1.03 of StrifeEdit corrects the following bugs: - Editor no longer crashes when a race is saved without initial buildings or units - Editor no longer crashes when editing imported data objects In addition, the following changes were made to gameplay: Sylvans - Rangers now require a 50/100 upgrade to gain their full speed bonus over carvers and skelies - Rangers now normalized to carverpower/effectiveness and also cost 250 (but have a lot more hps and do less damage than carvers) - Treants hit a bit farther making it easier for them to engage foes - Very slight scout downgrade to HPs along with less slight increase to damage - Unicorns slightly cheaper and have more HP - Unicorn teleport focus cheaper to research - Jump slightly downgraded - Elder Oak Grove and Enchanted Vale slightly cheaper to produce and build slightly faster - Unicorns build slightly faster - Chronomancy no longer affects spellcasters (Sorry Dire!) - Spider research time increased Accursed - Contagion is now a chaining "weakness" spell that will hit allied or hostile troops (up to 7 targets). It causes decreases in attack power and increases refire rate/cooldown. It costs 35 mana to cast and doesnt cost hitpoints. The overall "Downside" Effect is around 35% decrease in damage. - Leaping blight moves slightly faster and has slightly more range - Avengers can shoot a bit farther making it easier for them to engage foes - Caustic Ooze activates more quickly now - Changlings morph about 1/2 second faster - AP Rounds hit for 5 less damage - Ebon Boneworks build slightly faster (10 sec) - Spectral archers are now substantially stronger, though still slightly inferior to marksmen for cost - Fear Seeds cooldown time greatly increased Dark Elves - Moags bite a bit farther making it easier for them to engage foes - Immolation costs 45 to cast now - Blind slightly weakened on all fronts - Atrum basilica builds faster New Maps Added - OldForestRoad 1-1 and 2-2 (Released on SSEdit.com in December) - SplitPartners (an interesting team game that is like two seperate 1-1s with a narrow gap between... also an interesting potential for a 2 tower rush or power... either has been countered effectively in testing on 1.2) - ThreeWayFFA-Land (Just the old FFA map but not islands anymore and with reduced resources) - WaterCrossing (sort of a cross between LavaCrossing and Duel Rivers and Blighting) Maps Modified - AccursedHills (Minor) - Circumvention (Minor) - Highlanders (Opened up more) - TheBlighting (Balance fixes) --------------------------------------- Strifeshadow Version 1.02 Release Notes --------------------------------------- Version 1.02 of Strifeshadow corrects the following bugs: - Tournament games are now reported correctly - Bug corrected where units would sometimes attack without doing any damage - Text on traps fixed (1 shot(s) left) - Saved games created when a unit is entering a transport now work correctly - Two people can no longer pickup the same resource sack (led to a crash) - Lists and droplists corrected (again) to prevent selecting nothing - Offensive ritual locations and their targets now indicated on the minimap - Allies can now use reality disjunction portals - Moag Raiders now level correctly - Tainted Wisps can no longer shield buildings - Observers no longer receive "ally under attack" messages - Ritual positioning bug corrected In addition, the following changes were made to the gameplay: - Chronomancy limitation - a total weight of 16 units can be timestopped at one time - Tainted Wisp shield reduced to 400 HP - Wisp spell unleash aether cost has been reduced - Blind stun effect is slightly longer - Agony effect is SLIGHTLY reduced - Strike troops (moags, avengers, treants) are now "inertialess" - Standard melee (not level 2) engage duration is slightly shorter - Reality Disjunction research cost slightly lowered - Regeneration duration increase (plus overall healing increase) - Purify costs less to cast - Oak Groves cost reduced - Dames can now level - Avengers level faster - Fell Dragons, Djinns, Avatars level more easily - Cataclsym splash and damage substantially improved - Wyverns have agreed to decrease the cost of their teleport-related abilities - Land lore reveal duration improved - Rage no longer goes away from dame abilities when atrum basilica destroyed - The Dark Elves have designed a new ambush cellar, with a slightly enlarged capacity. New maps added: Highlander2 Highlander2 2v2 MultipleNetworks Maps modified: AccursedHills Circumvention Crossroads Cyclone Double Jeopardy Duel Rivers Lava River Man Maker Mine Rushers Shattered Visage --------------------------------------- Strifeshadow Version 1.01 Release Notes --------------------------------------- Version 1.01 of the Strifeshadow corrects many known "crash" bugs: - Game no longer crashes when attempting to login to GameSpy - Game no longer crashes when user is disconnected from GameSpy - Game no longer crashes when loading a game with engaged units - Many crashes due to improper system configuration fixed (mostly affected beta users) In addition, there were a collection of bugs related to listbox and drop-list selection. Specifically, you could select "nothing" using those visual controls and that usually led to a crash. It is no longer possible to select nothing. Perhaps the most widespread problems were network related, especially for people behind routers. Various users reported system crashes during network operations such as creating, joining, or leaving games. Other people reported a significant delay when leaving games, or when attempting to cancel a join operation. It is tough for us to say conclusively that we have fixed all of these problems, however we have made serious improvements to the problem. Anyone experiencing any of these network problems should *DEFINITELY* upgrade to DirectX 8.1. We have also added a collection of links to the start menu.
